DJ Clark Kent is at it again. The legendary AF1 collector and producer has designed another Air Force 1 for Nike, this one taking its inspiration from the 2009 NBA All-Star Game to be played in Phoenix, home of the Suns. The shoe’s colors are obviously a nod toward the host team, additionally it has “09″ emblazoned on the side and alternately “East” and “West” in Old English typeface on the lacelocks. Speaking of an All-Star game in Phoenix, does anyone remember those jerseys they wore the last time the game was in Phoenix (1995 I think)? Easily the best All-Star uniforms ever, cactus and all. They should really look into bringing those back this year.

Just like 2008, it looks like Nike will try to make 2009 the year of the hybrid, leaking photos of yet another just a week into 2009. This time though, it’s a mashup of several shoes worn by Penny Hardaway: the Nike Air Penny 1, Air Penny 2, Air Penny 3, Air Penny 4, and Nike Air Foamposite. The Nike Air 1/2 cent drops in March in a limited release, both in a black and royal blue colorway as well as an all black. The Air 1/2 Cent is also something of an homage to Lil’ Penny as it’s named for his jersey number (”1/2″) and bares his face on the sole.

The shoe is kind of cool, but only because it resembles the Air Penny 1. Apparently Nike didn’t get the memo that people wear shoes IN SPITE of foam, not because of it. Anyway, the shoe is probably rockable but at $190 I’ll be saving my money for something else.

This has been out for a couple of weeks, but I’m posting it here for the first time. It’s a sort of viral campaign for the new Kobe shoe, the Nike Zoom Kobe IV. The main point is Mike Epps playing everyone HORSE for their shoes. First DJ AM rolls up and loses, then Kobe comes up with the Zoom Kobe 4 and says “winner take all,” at which point Mike Epps grabs the Kobe shoe and runs off.

Decent commercial, the cool part was DJ AM’s shoes: the Nike Air Yeezy in brown (at about 15-17 seconds. I’d do a screencap but it’s a bit on the grainy side). Anyway, Air Yeezy coming out in a couple of months in a somewhat wide release, so this is possibly the beginning of some subtle viral advertising.

The Nike Zoom LeBron 6 “Chalk” Edition is dropping today, January 2nd. The shoe is supposedly inspired by LBJ’s tradition of throwing chalk up in the air before each game, as well as the commercials also dubbed “Chalk.” I’m really not sure how the above looks anything like chalk but hey, that’s why I don’t work for Nike. Anyway, the shoe is in limited release today so if you want a pair, you’d best get to Foot Locker this weekend and hope you live near one of the few stores getting it. Charles Barkley was arrested early Wednesday morning for suspicion of DUI after running a stop sign and failing several field sobriety tests administered by the East Valley (Arizona) DUI Task Force. Barkley refused a breathalyzer but submitted to a blood test, the results of which won’t be available for several days.

Fortunately for us, the police report has already been released and it is comedic gold. Barkley is absolutely on point the entire time he conversed with police. Highlights:

When asked where he was going, the Round Mound of Sound responded: “You want the truth? [...] I was gonna drive around the corner and get a blow job.” You may wonder why he would risk a DUI to get dome from some biddy. Well don’t worry, he went on to explain, after imploring the officer to admit that the girl riding shotgun was “hot.” In fact, I’ll just quote the police report directly: “[Barkley] then explained that she had given him a ‘blow job’ one week earlier and said it was the best one he had ever had in his life.”

When at the police station being processed (or whatever it’s called. I don’t think he was technically arrested so that may not be the right word) he told a civilian employee “I’ll tattoo my name on your ass” if it would get him out of a DUI. He then laughed and flipped it, saying “I’ll tattoo your name on my ass” and continued laughing.

On top of all that, I’m pretty sure Barkley is married to a Maureen Blumhardt (Barkley). Or was anyway, they may be seperated or divorced, information about her is a closely guarded secret on the internet.

While he hasn’t been wearing the shoe much yet—typically rocking the Nike Air Blue Chip in OKC Thunder colors—Kevin Durant has his own signature shoe from Nike, the Nike KD1, which he’ll start wearing exclusively any day now. The shoe should see wide public release in early February and, while I don’t know the exact price yet, Durant supposedly told Nike he wanted a shoe that most people could afford. Being that Nike currently think they can charge just shy of $200 for most new shoes, I assume this means they’ll be in the low $100s. Anyway, I’ll update with the specifics when possible.

This one slipped through for some reason when I was covering the spring and summer releases of the Air Force 1. The Nike Air Force 1 Huarache is slated for a spring release and is basically a white on white AF1 with an ice bottom and the Huarache logo on the tongue. Basically any time a white on white with ice bottom comes out I’ll be lining up, so this will be no different. I’ll update when I have an exact release date.

Continuing with their tradition of collaborating with innovaters from outside the shoe-world, Nike has recently partnered with Porsche to create the Nike Air Max Light GT3 RS. Well, to be a little more accurate Purchaze of Germany created the custom Nikes based on the colors of the recent 997 Porsche GT3 RS. The shoes were presented to the Porsche racing squad’s maintence team to be worn during the racing season. Alas, we’ll probably never see a general release. Via High Snobiety
